4ourth Mobile Touch Template

Pixels are for computers, tablets and phones. But you design products for fingers, touch and people. You need the right tool for your work.

If you design, specify, test or evaluate mobile handsets, tablets, kiosks, games or anything with a screen that people look at and touch, you need a Touch Template.

We’re actually up to v 7.3 but it’s just an improved 7.2 so you still get the idea.

Only $5 Each!

Shipping varies depending on whether you live in the US or not, so please pick the right option:

What Is a Touch Template?

It's just a couple clear plastic cards, printed with guidelines based on a vast pile of actual research I've done on how people see, hold and touch their mobile phones and tablets. You need one to measure the interference between touch targets, but it also allows you to measure other visible elements, like finding out really how big the text is.

You can use it to check your work to make sure you got the scaling right in your drawings, to check for device pixel scale ratio issues, and to check out the latest buzzworthy app or the competition and find out what they did right and wrong. It's the size of a credit card, so you can actually keep it in your wallet, so it's always with you.

The freshly-revised fifth-generation Touch Template splits the data to two cards. The green card is all about the touch size and position guidelines. The yellow card has additional rulers, a type guide (you can’t use a ruler to measure fonts), and guidelines for when to use different type sizes.

Like the Stickers?

Your order comes with a touch sticker for each template. And since I thought I found hundreds of the slightly older ones, usually 2-3 or more.

If you like them and want more just say so. I’ll send you a small bundle if you just cover shipping. Probably 5-6, unless you ask nicely for more. I can do like 15 before the post office will think it is not a letter or a bill and return it make me pay more to ship. But, just ask. Or, order several “packs” on the Paypal page instead. I’ll get the message.

Rounded with fees and envelope and paper costs and stuff to $1 for the US and $2 for all other countries.

Want To Buy a Lot of Touch Templates?

If you are buying more than about six templates contact me instead with your shipping address and the quantity. I will guarantee I have the inventory, and may give you a shipping quote based on the box I have to stuff them in, and send you a PayPal invoice so you can finalize your order in one click.

There’s much less of an issue with US addresses, but outside the US, prices climb and at some point I have to admit it’s not a letter so fill out customs forms, and so on.

Need Custom Touch Templates?

Want to buy some with your branding for an event, a promotional giveaway, or because you have a simply huge team? I can do that. Have done it several times, even with translated labels for other countries!

Minimum order will be 250, but costs start dropping slightly if you order more. Do not act at the last minute! If your conference is not for at least two months, I really can’t guarantee they are made and delivered on time.

Plan ahead! If you want them for some event, which is what everyone wants them for, give months of advance notice to work out the price, the design changes, get your internal approval, get them printed, and shipped. Like, 3 months is probably tight. Plan ahead.

Contact me and we'll talk in great detail.

Some Fine Print

I have actual paid work, and a family and small kids, so sometimes there are delays in shipping these while I am busy, or travel for work or speaking. Sometimes, there's a run on them, so I don't have any and need to order more. More delays.

Ask if you have not heard that I got your order, or if I said they shipped, but it’s been a week (in the US) or a month (overseas) without delivery. I’ll go ahead and make you wait another week, then I’ll just send it again. Orders are never lost, but some have been delayed a year or two, so I’ll cover that. When the delayed one comes in, give it to a friend or donate for a giveaway at the local Meetup group or something.

To keep costs down, so I can get as many of these out there as possible, I don't clear make more than pennies per sale, and it takes time to design, package, mail, and even update this beautiful web page. Bulk discounts are therefore not really a thing. I can give small breaks to very large orders, like 500 or 1000. 25 is not a large enough order for me to get or pass along any discounts.
