Interaction is how everyone actually touches, clicks, scrolls, and otherwise actually interacts with your product.

You might use the term look and feel to refer to the top layer of the website or app, and think that the design of this is all about size, color, position, icons, fonts and so on. But note that it’s two words; interaction design is the “feel” part of the equation.

And it’s arguably more important than what the look is. If your users cannot click a button because it’s too small, cannot tell the page is scrollable, or often wonder what the product is doing when they do click, that’s a failure of interaction design.
